About the Memorial
Veterans Memorial Park Foundation would like to thank Sculptor Randy New for the incredible new Global War on Terrorism Memorial, the memorial honors the sacrifice of our service members locally and nationally, that gave their lives in our nations most recent two wars.
The park would also like to thank Photographer Allen Jones for the official Memorial photograph of the Global War on Terror Memorial and the plaques that honor the communities own lost from the Global War on Terror.
After local soldier, Army Specialist Jamvis Armour, returned home critically wounded only to find his home destroyed by Hurricane Ivan the local community began to seek ways to help. A new subcommittee called Global War on Terrorism Vets in Need was formed with help from U. S. Representative Jeff Miller, and it now exists to assist severely injured soldiers and service members returning home. Many of the plaques throughout the park are in honor of these brave men and women.
